Sprint Product Reviews
In 2002, Sprint rolled out PCS Vision, the first nationwide 3G wireless network. The service offered then-impressive download speeds of up to 144 kbps, but to take advantage of the new service, Sprint customers needed to upgrade to a PCS Vision-capable cellphone and sign-up for a more expensive calling plan. Both presented a significant barrier to adoption.
Sprint needed not just to create awareness of its new PCS Vision service, but also to communicate specific details of the service to customers in a credible way to help them understand its full value. Our experience includes working with product reviewers at wireless, technology and consumer publications to secure comprehensive product reviews of the new PCS Vision service. The program included distributing 3G-capable handsets from Samsung, Sanyo and LG to reviewers so they could try out the features for themselves and include their perspectives on the value of the service in their reviews.
